Carl TaylorCarl TaylorCarl E. Taylor 1916-2010   Carl E. Taylor, MD, DrPH, founder of the academic discipline of international health, a man of spiritual conviction, who dedicated his life to the well-being of the world's marginalized people, passed away February 4, 2010 from prostate cancer. He was 93. The reach of his life was extraordinary, personally working in over 70 and having students from more than 100 countries.

Graduate, Mavis Windsor, has used her master’s degree skills to raise more than $400,000 to fund capacity building projects for her island community of Bella Bella. Home to the Heiltsuk Nation, her community is located on the Central Coast of British Columbia, which contains one of the largest remaining tracts of temperate rainforest left in the world, the Great Bear Rainforest.

Future Generations Announces Class of 2010

Franklin, WV.  In 2010 the Future Generations Graduate School will initiate its fourth master’s degree class with community leaders from 10 countries. Three new countries are represented in this cohort, including Guyana, Burundi, and Tanzania.  Student diversity arises from the program’s design, which requires students to be based in their communities for the two-year program.
